MARQUETTE, MI— Saturday’s farmers market in Marquette has been canceled.
The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market Committee made the decision to cancel the event due to unsafe weather conditions. The National Weather Service is forecasting thunderstorms and wind gusts exceeding 30 mph.
Officials say those conditions surpass the safety threshold for operating the market. The weather elements present serious risks, including difficulty in securing tents and displays, as well as increased danger for vendors, shoppers, and staff.
The market will resume next Wednesday and Saturday during Art Week.
