Power outages could extend into Tuesday afternoon, UPPCO says

MARQUETTE, MI— Due to the magnitude of ongoing winter storm activity and its widespread impact, Upper Peninsula Power Company customers who are currently without power should plan for their outage to extend into Tuesday afternoon.

Significant drifting and blowing snow has made accessing most areas impossible. UPPCO says crews are ready to respond, safely, as soon as weather subsides.

“We’re working closely with local road commissions to assist in getting to affected areas as soon as possible,” said Dan Freeborn, UPPCO’s Manager of Communications & External Affairs. “We know how disruptive extended outages can be and we’re committed to getting customers back online while keeping our crews and the public safe.”

Customers are reminded never to approach or touch a downed power line or anything that may be in contact with one. Stay at least 35 feet away and call 911 immediately to report a downed line.

To report an outage, customers may call UPPCO’s Customer Service Center at (906) 449-2011, email customerservice@uppco.com, or access their online account at uppco.com.
