MARQUETTE, MI— Now that the snow has stopped and winds have died down, snow plows across the Upper Peninsula are getting out to side roads, allowing utility companies to fix power outages.
Crews have worked in deep snow and winds gusting to nearly 60 miles an hour in an effort to restore electricity to customers.
As of 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, here is the number of outages reported by U.P. utilities:
Alger-Delta Electric Cooperative Association—1,604
Cloverland Electric—323
Marquette Board of Light and Power—34
UPPCO—846
WE Energies--315
Road crews in Delta County had to suspend operations for a while during the storm because conditions made it impossible for them to get out.
Power company officials are hoping Tuesday's sunshine will help them restore power to as many customers as possible.
