Negaunee Township meeting to discuss 2023 road reconfiguration project

NEGAUNEE, MI— Those who are interested in hearing about a planned road project between Negaunee and Marquette Township next year are invited to a May 12 meeting.

In 2023, the Michigan Department of Transportation will resurface US-41 from Iroquois Drive to Brickyard Road. The project will involve reconfiguring the crossovers from the east intersection with Heritage Drive to the end of the grass median east of Pond Road. It includes building "truck loons”—areas of pavement outside of the normal traffic lanes to provide additional room for commercial vehicles to turn. The crossover reconfiguration will be the focus of the public meeting.

It takes place Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Negaunee Township Hall.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
