MARQUETTE, MI— Work on US-2 through Bessemer starts on Tuesday.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is rebuilding 2.7 miles of the highway, from Powdermill Creek to east of Cedar Avenue. Work includes the addition of a center left-turn lane, storm sewer improvements and water main replacements.
A one-way detour of US-2 traffic will be in place during the work, which is expected to be completed in October.
And the resurfacing of 7.5 miles of US-41/M-28 in Baraga County also begins Tuesday. Work will be done from east of the M-28/US-141 intersection to the east end of the passing lane section near the Tioga Roadside Park in Covington Township.
The project should be done by October 18.
