NEGAUNEE, MI— The City of Negaunee will start its beach expansion project on Teal Lake next week.
Starting Monday, the beach will be closed for three weeks to implement several upgrades. They include expansion of the sandy area from 1,000 to 1,800 square feet, relocation of the street surface storm water discharge pipes, installation of an ADA-compliant ramp and beach mat, and the addition of a picnic table.
The project is made possible through an $82,000 grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The overall cost of the project is $107,700 dollars. The city is contributing 25 percent.
