Baraga gets money to revamp roads

BARAGA, MI— The Village of Baraga is getting a grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation for road projects.

The nearly $216,000 comes from the Community Service Infrastructure Fund. It will be used to revamp Hemlock Street, Superior Avenue, and Spruce Street.

The total project cost amounts to almost $432,000. The village must provide a 50-percent match.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
