Work on US-41 between Negaunee and Marquette Township slated for June 5

road work

MARQUETTE, MI— An $8.3 million project to revamp US-41/M-28 between Iroquois Drive in Negaunee to Brickyard Road in Marquette Township starts Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says work on the 6.2 miles of roadway includes asphalt resurfacing and the addition of left-turn lanes.

Highway crossovers will be reconfigured from the east intersection with Heritage Drive to the end of the grass median east of Pond Road. That will include building truck loons, or areas of pavement outside of the normal traffic lanes that provide additional room for commercial vehicles to turn.

The project is expected to be completed in late September.
