Parking lot closure slated in Marquette next week

MARQUETTE, MI— A dredging project will close a Marquette parking lot next week.

On Monday, K&M Industrial will be dredging sand from the mouth of the Dead River. The sand will be used to reroute the river channel and restore the shoreline at areas south of the river.

The city parking lot just north of the river will be closed to the public during the project. That lot, as well as an area north of Clark Lambros Beach, will be used for staging materials and equipment.

The project is expected to be completed by November 30th.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
