MI Clean Water grants to help UP communities upgrade water infrastructure

LANSING, MI— Seven Upper Peninsula municipalities have received state grants to upgrade water infrastructure.

Ironwood has been given a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund grant of $11,021,000. It will be used to replace about 15,300 feet of water main and associated lead and galvanized water service lines in the northwest portion of the city. Another 40 lead service lines will be replaced throughout Ironwood.

Also getting grants to identify or verify lead service lines are:

City of Gaastra - $167,250

Chassell Township - $153,770

McMillan Township - $54,898

Rockland Township - $60,500

Village of Alpha - $59,000

Village of L’Anse - $288,000
