HOUGHTON, MI— The first round of emergency repairs on M-26 south of Canal Road in Houghton is wrapping up.
Lanes on M-26 have been closed due to pavement damage after recent heavy rainfall. Contractors for the Michigan Department of Transportation have been repairing a storm sewer that failed due to excessive storm runoff.
A second round of repairs, including re-lining and partially replacing a damaged culvert, concrete paving, and curb work, will be let for bids soon. That work is expected to begin in mid- to late August and be completed in early to mid-October.
Motorists should continue to drive cautiously in the area and expect possible lane closures and traffic shifts.
