Portion of M-95 in Marquette County to be resurfaced

MARQUETTE, MI— One U.P. road project begins next week, just as another is wrapping up.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will start work on M-95 in Marquette County on Monday. More than five miles of the stretch between County Roads LLL and LLK near Republic will be resurfaced.

The project is scheduled to be finished by early September.

Meanwhile, US-41 in Alger County has fully reopened to traffic as work on two US-41 bridges over the West Branch of Whitefish River and Huber Creek is substantially complete.

The detour that has been in place since April has been lifted and the single-lane closure at Huber Creek has been removed. Remaining work may require intermittent single-lane or shoulder closures with traffic regulators.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
