ESCANABA, MI— The Michigan Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting this month to talk about the rebuilding of a portion of US-2 in Escanaba.
The highway from North 30th Street to Danforth Road will be rebuilt. The project includes replacing the CN Railroad bridge, adding new turn lanes, traffic signal relocation and enhancement-funded nonmotorized and aesthetic improvements. The City of Escanaba plans to replace water main and other municipal utilities as part of the project, which will cost more than $31 million.
Work is expected to be completed in several phases from spring 2027 to fall 2029.
The meeting takes place Thursday, September 18 at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of Escanaba City Hall.
