MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— The Michigan Department of Transportation and Marquette County Road Commission are partnering to build a roundabout at the Crossroads.
Each agency will pay half the cost of the $2.8 million project.
Officials say the intersection of M-553 and County Road-480 has not seen a pattern of serious crashes, but during busy traffic periods, backups and delays have been common.
MDOT Ishpeming Transportation Service Center Manager Rob Tervo says benefits of the roundabout will include a safer and more efficient flow of traffic on the busy corridor between Marquette, Gwinn, and the airport.
More project information will be announced prior to the start of the project. Up-to-date information will also be posted at www.michigan.gov/drive.
