MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— The public fishing platform at Dam 3 Reservoir on the Escanaba River is temporarily closed.

Upper Peninsula Power Company says the wooden platform sustained structural damage over the weekend and has been determined unsafe for public use. UPPCO is assessing the extent of the damage and developing a repair plan. A timeline for reopening has not yet been established.

The closure is limited to the fishing platform and does not affect operation of the hydroelectric facility.

UPPCO reminds anyone recreating near its hydroelectric facilities to obey all posted signs and barriers, remain aware of changing conditions, and avoid entering any restricted or closed areas.
