ONTONAGON AND KEWEENAW COUNTIES, MI— Traffic on two Upper Peninsula highways will be affected by road work starting August 10.
The Michigan Department of Transportation will replace culverts on US-41 south of Washington Mine Road in Keweenaw County starting that Monday. The highway will be closed to through traffic from the M-26/US-41 intersection in Phoenix to Copper Harbor, with a posted detour onto M-26. The $330,000 project is expected to be finished by August 21.
Also on August 10, MDOT will start work on culvert replacement on M-28 east of South Agate Road in Ontonagon County. One lane of alternating traffic will be open in the work zone. The $153,000 project is expected to be finished by August 21.
