MUNISING, MI— Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore says Sand Point Road will be temporarily closed October 1-14 for a culvert replacement project.
Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited on the stretch east of the park boundary. The Sand Point Marsh Trail, Sand Point Beach, and park headquarters will be inaccessible via Sand Point Road. Access to Munising Memorial Hospital, the Munising Falls Visitor Center, and private residences will not be impacted by the closure.
The culvert replacement project, funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, will improve hydrologic connectivity between the Sand Point Wetland and Lake Superior within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
