HOUGHTON, MI— A traffic light at a Houghton intersection will go into flash mode beginning October 28.
The Michigan Department of Transportation will alter the light at M-26 and Canal Road early that morning. The signal will flash yellow for M-26 and flash red for Canal Road for the winter.
MDOT installed the signal in summer of 2025 and plans to operate it from approximately May until October each year. The signal will be placed in flash mode during the winter months.
The exact schedule for seasonal operation of the signal depends on traffic volumes and weather conditions.
