Escanaba Public Safety collects 300 pounds of old drugs

ESCANABA, MI--   Police in Escanaba collected hundreds of pounds of old medication during a recent “Medication Take Back” program.

The Department of Public Safety says the September 26 event resulted in officers turning in 300 pounds of prescription drugs to the Drug Enforcement Agency for disposal.  A portion of that was also collected from Public Safety’s 24/7 prescription drop box for unused or outdated medication.

Officers are thanking the public for participating in the Medication Take Back program.  They say it keeps drugs out of the wrong hands and keeps them from contaminating the environment.
