Escanaba woman’s death deemed accidental

ESCANABA, MI--   Escanaba Public Safety says the death of a woman found in an apartment during a welfare check was accidental.

Officers were sent to an apartment complex on the 800 block of 2nd Avenue South to check on a 41-year-old Rebecca Bullard, who hadn’t been seen in a couple of days.  They broke down the door and found her deceased.

The circumstances surrounding Bullard’s death were initially considered suspicious.  Officers processed the apartment as a potential crime scene, but extensive investigation and an autopsy performed at OSF St. Francis Hospital revealed the cause of death to be an emergent medical condition.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted on-scene by the Delta County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Michigan State Police Crime Labs in Marquette and Grayling, and Rampart EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
