IRON MOUNTAIN, MI-- State Police at the Iron Mountain Post have been honored for their efforts in community policing.
Last month the post received an award for its Adopt a School Initiative. Troopers partnered with North Dickinson School to bring a positive and safe environment for students and staff. They presented safety programs, attended school functions, and were available to students and staff for issues or questions.
Eighth grade students participated in a public service announcement contest to address traffic safety problems like speeding, distracted driving, operating while intoxicated, and seat belt usage. The winning groups recorded their PSAs and had lunch with troopers at the Iron Mountain Post.
