Activists continue to call for Col. Etue’s removal

LANSING, MI (MPRN)--   Activists delivered a petition to Governor Rick Snyder on Friday.

The petition demands the removal of Michigan State Police Colonel Kriste Etue.

Three weeks ago Colonel Etue posted a meme on Facebook. It called NFL players who kneel during the National Anthem “degenerates.” She later apologized.

Governor Rick Snyder recently said she would not receive pay for five days of work.

Denzel McCampbell is with the liberal group Progress Michigan. He delivered the petition to Snyder’s office.

“There are thousands of Michiganders, their signatures are right there here, and it’s thousands of folks across the country who say that it’s not enough.”

Tanya Baker took the petition from McCampbell.

“We will accept these on his behalf and we will make sure that they are reviewed.”

Democratic Representative Leslie Love says although she apologized, the Colonel should still be removed from her position.

“Cause she’s the leader of the Michigan State Police at a time in our life where things are so fragile. The racial issues here. And we see it every day.”

The Michigan State Police declined to comment.
