Marquette County law enforcement competing for Salvation Army

MARQUETTE, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office are holding a friendly competition to raise funds for the Salvation Army.

Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. troopers and deputies will collect money at the entrances of the Marquette Wal-Mart. All funds raised will stay in the community and will be used to stock Salvation Army food pantries, a Christmas toy giveaway, lunch programs, and casework and assistance programs that run throughout the year.

State Police and the Sheriff’s Office will determine who received the most donations after 6 p.m.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
