Sheriff Zyburt thanks public for listening to warnings

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt is thanking the community for heeding law enforcement advice to limit travel Monday.

Rain across the area froze, creating hazardous driving conditions. Zyburt says following the announcement the number of cars on the road decreased significantly. That allowed officers to catch up on the large number of crashes from earlier in the day.

Zyburt says such announcements are never made lightly. He says cooperation from the community made deputies’ jobs easier, which is highly appreciated.
