"Stuff a Blue Goose" a big hit in the Keweenaw

CALUMET, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are calling the recent “Stuff a Blue Goose” campaign a great success.

Troopers partnered with Louie’s Fresh Market in Lake Linden, Pat’s IGA in Calumet and L’Anse, Econo Foods in Houghton and Larry’s Market in Baraga to fill a patrol car with food donated from the public.

The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 Michigan Harvest Gathering Campaign. It aimed to raise awareness of hunger in the area and to stock local food pantries.

Troopers say this year a total of 10,355 pounds of goods were collected at all locations. The food was distributed to St. Vincent DePaul in L’Anse and Hancock, the Salvation Army in Hancock, and the CLK Food Pantry in Calumet.

Officials thank the public and the stores for their involvement and generosity.
