MSP joining other states to catch impaired drivers

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan State Police is participating in a multi-state effort to curtail drivers who are operating while impaired.

Friday through Sunday the MSP is joining the 6-State Trooper Project, coordinated by the Pennsylvania State Police since 2012.

Officials say while impaired driving enforcement is a daily priority for officers, patrols will increase focus on catching impaired drivers during this time.

The 6-State Trooper Project is a collaborative effort by state police from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Michigan to address crime and improve highway safety.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
