MARINETTE, WI— Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says he will not seek a fourth term and will retire when his current term is up.

In a statement released Tuesday, Sauve said his decision came after much thought. His current term doesn’t end until January 2, 2023, but Sauve said he wanted to allow ample time for those interested in running for sheriff. He says he’ll remain active and involved until his retirement.

Sauve has been with the Sheriff’s Office for more than 38 years. He said he’ll be turning 64 this summer, and the timing seemed right.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
