MSP defensive driving program still looking for teen participants

ESCANABA, MI— Several spots are available for the Michigan State Police’s U.P. Teen Defensive Driving Program in Escanaba this month.

The class will be held in four-hour blocks during the week of June 27 through July 1. Teens must be a fully licensed GDL Level 2 driver between the ages of 16 and 19.

They will learn skills like skid control, evasive maneuvering, and confined area maneuvering.

The link to register is here. Officials note while the link says it’s a waiting list, it’s actually the link parents need to use to register their kids. They say a number of openings are still available.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
