Skeletal remains found in Dickinson County

DICKINSON COUNTY, MI— On July 3rd, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible human skeletal remains discovered in the Hamilton Lakes area.

Deputies responded to the scene and consulted with the Michigan State Police Crime Lab. On July 5th, the Sheriff’s Office assisted the crime lab in the recovery of the bones.

Forensic anthropologists from both Michigan and Wisconsin have been consulted about the remains. Physical examinations will be conducted, but the skeleton does appear to be old in nature. Officials do not believe the remains are linked to any local missing persons.

The incident remains under investigation.
