Dispose of unwanted prescription drugs Saturday

MARQUETTE, MI— The second Drug Enforcement Administration “Drug Take Back Day” of the year is Saturday.

Law enforcement agencies across the country will accept expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications from the public and properly dispose of them.

Officials say a majority of people who use a prescription medication for a nonmedical purpose obtained it from a family member or friend.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., agencies will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other forms of prescription drugs. Syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted.

The event will also continue to accept vaping devices and cartridges if lithium batteries are removed.

To locate a collection site near you, go to www.dea.gov/takebackday.
