School issue with student managed by Menominee Police Department on Friday

MENOMINEE, MI— The Menominee Police Department says a school safety situation involving a student last week was not a threat to Menominee or any schools.

On Friday, school officials observed the student arriving at Menominee High School. Police made contact with the student, who was given a ride home and warned not to trespass on school property.

Officers say they took appropriate action, as they take all school safety concerns very seriously.

The MPD and Student Resource Officer say they’ll continue to maintain and enforce the safety of students. They also say it’s an unfortunate example of what can happen when unfounded rumors spread on social media, although no explanation was given for that statement.
