Armed subject prompts brief lockdown of Marquette Medical Center

MARQUETTE, MI— A person with a firearm was taken into custody at the Upper Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette Friday.

The Marquette Police Department responded around 10:42 a.m. to one of the suites on a report the individual was being verbally aggressive with staff.

Officers were able to contact the subject without incident and locate the firearm.

A report of the incident will be sent to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The Medical Center was briefly placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
