Active shooter drill in Manistique concerns residents

MANISTIQUE, MI— Police in Manistique are reassuring the public, following an active shooter response test at St. Francis de Sales school.

Manistique Public Safety says a scheduled test of the active threat alert system was conducted Wednesday. The news of the alert caused some members of the public to be concerned it was real event.

Officers say the test was conducted under the authority of St. Francis administration and the Public Safety Department. At no time was there any real or perceived threat to any school staff, students, or the public.

Police say the test was done in an effort to make sure all stages of the system were operational so everyone could be kept safe in the event of a real threat.
