Police conduct drug-targeted enforcement effort in Marinette County

MARINETTE COUNTY, WI— Numerous law enforcement agencies conducted a drug interdiction in Marinette County last week.

On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigator and Drug Investigation Response Team headed the multiple-agency effort.

Officials say 145 traffic stops were made, with 43 K-9 deployments. A total of 138 warnings were given, 26 citations were issued, and 8 arrests were made. Charges included possession and delivery of meth, possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs and cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an automobile while intoxicated, and probation and parole violations.

Assisting in the effort were the Marinette County/911 Dispatch Center, Marinette Police Department, the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office, Niagara Police Department, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Crivitz Police Department, Peshtigo Police Department, Shawano County Sheriff’s Office Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, Oconto Falls Police Department, Oconto Police Department, the KIND Drug Team, and the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
