BEAVER ISLAND, MI— Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie and other agencies are conducting emergency response training exercises in Beaver Island Friday and Saturday.
The focus of the exercise is to confirm the ability to respond to hypothetical emergencies in a remote location. Local residents may see increased activity as several agencies train.
The operation, called Maritime Resolve, will bring together multiple Coast Guard units, Charlevoix Emergency Management, the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, and other government and civil emergency response agencies to confirm and test response capabilities.
