Missing Spalding Township woman with dementia located

MENOMINEE COUNTY, MI— A missing woman with dementia was found in Menominee County Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 8:45 a.m. to the area of Old US-2 & 41 in Spalding Township. The 84-year-old woman was last seen Wednesday night at about 10:30 p.m. and was gone the next morning.

K-9s from the Sheriff’s Office and Hannahville Tribal Police were brought in. Menominee City Police and the Delta County Sheriff's Office also assisted with drones.

The woman was found by one of the dogs around 10:55 a.m. She was alert and talking. The woman was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Escanaba for an evaluation.

The Hermansville Rescue squad assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
