UPDATE: Law enforcement searching Arvon Township area for missing man

UPDATE, 4/26/23: Michigan State Police say Desmarais has been found alive and well.

BARAGA COUNTY, MI— Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are searching for a man missing from Baraga County.

The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office contacted troopers Monday around 11:25 p.m., saying a couple had reported their son missing.

Jason Desmarais, 38, was last seen at his home Monday around 5 a.m. He’s described as 5’10” and 180 lbs. with brown hair, green eyes, and possibly scruffy facial hair. He could be wearing jeans and a gray hoodie.

Desmarais reportedly left his residence sometime between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. He was driving a black, 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, bearing Michigan registration DYS1500.

A search is underway in the Arvon Township area of Baraga County. Troopers are being assisted in the search by the Baraga County Sheriff's Office, Baraga County Search and Rescue, Dynamite Towing, and family members.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
