Hiker lost on Hogback Mountain found by search and rescue personnel

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI— A missing hiker was found in Marquette Township Thursday, after she got lost on Hogback Mountain.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and Marquette County Search and Rescue were dispatched to the area around 5:30 p.m. They say an 87-year-old woman had become separated from her hiking party.

Search and Rescue personnel found the woman west of Hogback around 6 p.m. She was in good health and was reunited with her family.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
