Missing man with Alzheimer's found in Skandia

SKANDIA, MI— A person with Alzheimer’s who went missing in Skandia has been found safe and sound.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday around 3 p.m. to the area of County Road 545 in Skandia. They say an elderly man had left his residence and had not returned for more than two hours.

Marquette County Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police, and the Department of Natural Resources also responded to search for the man.

Neighbors heard yelling in the area and found the missing man about 400 yards from their residence. He was returned home without incident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
