Body found on Beaver Island identified as missing woman Kristen Terrian

BEAVER ISLAND, MI— The body of a missing Gulliver woman has been found on the beach of Beaver Island.

Kristen Terrian, 39, was last seen on August 2 on Michibay Beach near Manistique Township Park. On August 9, an unidentified body was discovered in Lake Michigan on the western shore of Beaver Island.

Michigan State Police from the Manistique Outpost and Gladstone Post say a postmortem exam was conducted on Monday. Officials used dental records Thursday to positively identify the body as Kristen Terrian. The autopsy has not yet been completed and pends further lab studies.

Terrian’s family has been notified.

MSP Public Information Officer, F/Lt. Mike Shaw, said, “This is not the outcome any of us wanted. We offer our condolences to Kristen’s family and our community.”

The case remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about Terrian to contact the Gladstone Post.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
