Body of missing MTU student found

HOUGHTON, MI— A missing Michigan Technological University graduate student has been found deceased.

Matthew Sisson, 36, was reported missing by his family on Friday. MTU’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services says his body was located, but did not indicate where.

Officers do not suspect foul play.

University officials say their thoughts are with Sisson’s family. Tech’s Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being is available for students affected by the loss.

Public Safety thanks the public for its assistance in the search for Sisson. Officers are not releasing further information at this time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
