Searchers find body of missing Gwinn man

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI— The body of a missing Gwinn man has been found on a two-track road in Forsyth Township.

Township Police started searching for Jamie Willis, 46, on Tuesday after his family reported him missing. They, deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies searched the area throughout the day and night.

On Wednesday, law enforcement and community members continued the search. They found Willis’ Jeep Cherokee on a two-track road near Seass Road in Forsyth Township. Willis’ body was discovered about a hundred yards from the vehicle.

No foul play is suspected.

Forsyth Police were assisted by FTPD K-9 Zeke, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Marquette County Central Dispatch, and Forsyth Township Fire & EMS.

The department thanks the community and family members who assisted in the search and extends its deepest condolences to the family of Jamie Willis.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
