Missing 13-year-old boy found safe in Marquette County

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— A boy who had gone missing while riding his ATV on June 25 was found by Marquette Search and Rescue.

The 13-year-old had left his home around 9:30 p.m. to ride around the area. His mother became concerned when he hadn't returned home after dark and notified the Michigan State Police around 11:15 p.m.

After several hours of searching nearby roads and trails, Search and Rescue members located ATV tracks. They followed the tracks for about 25 miles and found the boy on County Road 581 near the Steel Bridge Road. The ATV had run out of gas.

The boy was taken home to his family. They retrieved the machine the next day.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
