ALGER COUNTY, MI— The Alger County Sheriff’s Office and a number of local, state, and federal agencies conducted a weeklong search for a missing Munising-area woman.
Starla Goings was last seen in August of 2025. Her car was found two days later near the intersection of 16 Mile Lake Road and M-94.
The Sheriff’s Office says the large-scale search began August 20 and concluded August 27. Officials covered the 16 Mile Lake area and surrounding areas.
Participating agencies included:
- FBI—including the FBI Underwater Search and Evidence Recovery Team, Evidence Response Team, Aviation Support, and Canine Teams
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection
- Cook County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit
- Detroit Police Department Missing Persons Unit
- Michigan State Police
- Michigan Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers
- U.S. Forest Service.
The Alger County Sheriff’s Office says significant effort was put forth in the search and all agencies will continue to investigate.
