OMA, WI— The collaboration of several law enforcement agencies resulted in the discovery of a lost elderly woman with dementia in Iron County, Wisconsin on Thursday.
Around 7:15 p.m., dispatch received information that the 96-year-old was missing from her residence in the Fisher Lake area of Oma.
Deputies responded, along with the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and the Iron County Emergency Manager, who secured a drone. A grid search was conducted from her last known location.
Around 9:43 p.m., the woman was found lying in a wooded area a short distance from her home. She was cold and disoriented, but otherwise appeared to be fine.
Also assisting in the incident were Mercer Fire & EMS, the Oma Fire Department, Gogebic County Search and Rescue, and Mercer Ambulance.
