Community Response Fund offering second round of grants for nonprofits

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette County nonprofit organizations are invited to submit applications for Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Community Response Fund.

The fund was created by the United Way of Marquette County and the Community Foundation of Marquette County to assist nonprofits during the pandemic. Individual and corporate donors raised more than $150,000.

During Phase 1 55 grants totaling more than $80,000 were awarded to groups to help them deliver services safely. Phase 2 will focus on addressing internal organizational needs.

Applications will be accepted through December 31 at 5 p.m. Grant awards will be announced in February.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
