Federal grants awarded to UP entities

MARQUETTE, MI— U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters say two Upper Peninsula entities are getting federal support in the form of grants.

The Stanton Township Volunteer Fire Department is getting $67,429 from the Department of Homeland Security. It will use the funding to purchase 14 sets of turnout gear.

And the Department of Transportation is awarding Sawyer International Airport $2,700,120 to repair a hangar. The project is funded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
