HOUGHTON, MI— Michigan Technological University is getting a $30 million allocation under the state’s new budget.
The funding will support the construction of a new Center for Convergence and Innovation. The facility will serve as a collaborative physical hub aiming to integrate computing, business, research, and technological innovation across disciplines. The university says the center will advance initiatives in high-demand fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and modern enterprise education.
Tech’s Hamar House was torn down this month and will serve as the site for the new center.
Tech officials say the facility will serve as the cornerstone of the University’s efforts to meet the workforce demands and entrepreneurial innovations of the future.
