CALUMET, MI— A Calumet company is one of 12 statewide to receive funding for its air mobility technology projects.

Westwood AI was awarded $100,000 through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Future Mobility and Electrification. Westwood AI will use the money to test AI-assisted drone data capture to generate more accurate aerial information for land and infrastructure inspections.

The 12 awards totaling $1.7 million will advance Michigan’s strategy to expand the state’s Advanced Air Mobility capabilities and support the safe integration and deployment of those technologies.
