SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians says its Kewadin Casinos will reopen, starting this week.
That’s after the tribe was the victim of a ransomware attack on February 9.
The Sault Ste. Marie casino opens at noon on Wednesday, Kewadin St. Ignace Friday at noon, and Kewadin Casinos in Manistique, Christmas, and Hessel Monday at noon.
All casino hotels, restaurants, and entertainment will resume their normal business hours when the buildings reopen. Officials say it will be safe to use credit cards at the casinos.
Tribal Chairman Austin Lowes says, “Some tribal organizations were impacted more severely than others and are still recovering, but we’re fortunate to be able to reopen Kewadin’s doors and continue serving as a prime entertainment destination for the eastern U.P.”
